LKCMedicine launches Heritage Centre

22 May 2018

It was a text message 11 years ago to then-provost Professor Bertil Andersson from MOE that sparked the genesis of NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. The phone bearing that SMS now sits in a time capsule housed at the LKCMedicine Heritage Centre at the School’s Novena campus on 11 Mandalay Road. The time capsule, which contains 29 other items, will be opened on the School’s 50th anniversary in 2060. LKCMedicine executive vice dean Lionel Lee said that even though LKCMedicine is still a young medical school, it is important to archive important moments and memories before they get eroded by time. LKCMedicine’s Director of Heritage Centre and Medical Library Caroline Pang said the 175sqm Heritage Centre is a living space that will grow with time as more artifacts are accumulated.
