Dr Fabian Yap Kok Peng, MBBS, MMED, MRCP, GDipHML, FAMS, graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1992. He obtained a Master’s degree in paediatric medicine and membership to the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom in 1998. In 2003, he completed clinical fellowship in paediatric endocrinology at the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes in Sydney. He was admitted as a fellow to the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2005. In 2010, he graduated from the Singapore Management University with a postgraduate diploma in healthcare management and leadership.
Dr Yap holds the clinical appointments of senior consultant paediatrician in the department of paediatrics at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where he is head of the Paediatric Endocrinology service. He is adjunct associate professor of paediatrics at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS. He received the Dean’s Award for teaching excellence in 2007/08.
Dr Yap’s current research involves the study of the developmental origins of adult disease. He co-leads the growth and metabolism domain of the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) translational birth cohort study. He is presently a member of the medical board at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and council member of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore.
