Dr Phua Eng Joo is presently an Associate Consultant with the Department of General Medicine at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore. His clinical duties are centred on delivering comprehensive care to patients with general medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As a certified Endocrinologist, Dr Phua’s subspecialty interest lies in diabetes mellitus and its attendant complications.
Dr Phua graduated in Medicine from the National University of Singapore in 2002. He subsequently obtained the MRCP(UK) diploma from the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2008. After completing the basic and advanced specialist training programmes locally, Dr Phua has been accredited as a specialist in Endocrinology. He is a member of several academic organizations including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (United Kingdom) and is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Chapter of Endocrinologists), Singapore.
Dr Phua is closely involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Apart from being an appointed clinical tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore), he actively participates in clinical teaching and plans the curriculum for the Endocrinology advanced specialist trainees in his unit.
