Dr Tan Teng Hong, MBBS, MMed (Paeds), MRCP (UK), MRCPCH (UK), GDipHML, obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1993. He obtained his post-graduate medical degree in Paediatric Medicine in 1997. He also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management and Leadership from Singapore Management University in 2009, graduating as the Valedictorian of the pioneer batch of graduates.
Dr Tan is currently a Senior Consultant with the Cardiology Service, Department of Paediatric Subspecialties at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital which sees the most number of referrals for children with heart diseases in Singapore. He is also a visiting consultant to the Department of Neonatology of Singapore General Hospital as well as a visiting specialist to the School Health Service. His research interests include congenital heart diseases, echocardiography, arrhythmias and Kawasaki disease.
For many years, Dr Tan has been actively involved in medical education of both undergraduates and post-graduate students and residents. He is a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Ling School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Adjunct Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Graduate School of Medicine Singapore. He had previously obtained the CEO Award for Best Clinical Teacher as well as the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
