Dr Tan Cher Heng obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2001 and completed his training in Diagnostic Radiology in 2009. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore and a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK.
Cher Heng is presently a Consultant with the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His subspecialty interests are in oncologic imaging and abdominal MRI, for which he completed a clinical fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA in 2009 under the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan Award. He now serves as Chairman of the Abdominal Radiology Subsection of the Singapore Radiological Society.
As a clinical core faculty member of the NHG-AHPL Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program, Cher Heng is involved with training of Radiology residents. He is also a clinical tutor for medical students with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS). He received the Top Ten Teachers' Award (Division of Surgery, TTSH) for 2009-2010.
Cher Heng is currently involved in a number of funded research projects with various NTU scientists, primarily related to MRI. He was receipient of the Young Radiologist Award (Singapore Radiological Society, 2007) and Certificate of Merit and Excellence in Design awards (Radiological Society of North America, 2009). He has been appointed Specialty Editor for the Singapore Medical Journal.
